  • Rolling Pin
  • Baking Tray
  • Greaseproof Baking Paper
  • Sharp Knife
  • Microwaveable Bowl

Ingredients

You will need:

  • 100 g Butter
  • 100 g Caster Sugar
  • 1 Egg
  • 370 g Plain Flour
  • 2 Single Bars of Dairy Milk Chocolate
  • Sugar Flowers and Sprinkles

Instructions

Heart of Tefiti Biscuit Recipe

  • I went with the same biscuit recipe that never fails. If I need more, I double the measurements to suit.
  • Leave the butter out to settle to room temperature so it’s softer.
  • Cream the butter and sugar together.
  • Beat the egg and add gradually as you mix
  • Sieve in the flour slowly and mix to a dough.
  • You’ll need to use your hands!
  • Split the dough in two.

Now you have the biscuit dough, here’s how to make them into Heart of Te Fiti Biscuits

  • Colour each part the shade you’d like. I used green and then mixed royal blue and green together for the darker green. Wear gloves if you don’t want green hands!
  • Wrap each ball of dough, which will look like playdoh now, in clingfilm and refrigerate for at least 4 hours
  • Remove the clingfilm and roll each colour to a thickness of about 3mm.
  • Lay the two colours on top of each other and cut one edge flat.
  • This will be the start of your roll.
  • Roll from the straight edge slowly using the clingfilm to ensure a tight roll.
  • Cover your biscuit roll in cling film like a sausage and refrigerate for at least another hour so it’s easier to cut!
  • Remove from fridge and cling film and cut into slices as thick as you’d like your cookies.
  • Lay on baking paper covered tray and bake at Gas Mark 6 for 12 minutes.
  • Keep an eye on them so they don’t brown.

Decorating the Heart of Te Fiti Biscuits

  • Once the cookies are cooled completely, you can add the flowers.
  • Melt your chocolate in the microwave [or however you prefer]. I used two bars of Dairy Milk and broke them into pieces in a microwaveable glass bowl. I microwave for one minute and then stir until all the lumps have gone. Do not microwave more or you’ll have tacky, grainy chocolate.
  • Dip the edge of the biscuit into the chocolate and roll from side to side, then place on baking paper carefully.
  • Once all of the biscuits are dipped, gently add the sugar flowers and sprinkles. You can add as many as you like until you’re happy that they’re suitably Moana like!
  • Leave to set and enjoy!
