SAYING “I LUB YOU” WITH WILD FLOWERS

Sharing is caring!

My favourite flowers are the ones you can’t buy in the stores.  They’re usually presented to me in the palm of a small, mud freckled hand by a scuffed up little boy with a heart melting smile.  Daisies, buttercups – generally with the petals wilting from being grasped so hard on their race back to present them to me – embellished by crunchy leaves with caterpillar nibbles on them.  They’re wild, carefree flowers and I treasure them.  They sit on my kitchen windowsill and I smile each time I glance up at them in their little milk bottle display, winking in the sunlight.
“I know you lub flowies, Momma.”  they say.
And I do.

Last week we discovered the Wild Flowers Company.  Imagine your little one breathlessly racing back to your side with a bouquet of everything that the English countryside has to offer.  No imported, mass produced, chemical laden flowers – just pure, naturally grown seasonal wild flowers from British gardens.

There are posies, arrangements and beautiful bouquets – at a fraction of the price of a high street bouquet – and the flowers are SEASONAL.  I had no idea what to expect, which saddened me.  We have completely lost touch with our landscape.

Our breathtaking bouquet featured pussy willows – I haven’t seen those since I was a little girl myself – and our bouquet was enormous.  Not just a few flowers and then bunches of filler, but so many blooms that even my little ones selected a colourful posy each to sell in their own flower market role play.  I’ve used combinations of flowers and foliage all week in different shoots, combining and having fun with the carefree, twirly stems and fresh leaves.  At one point I had 14 different vases, jam jars and bottles in my kitchen, playing like a preschooler.

Wild Flowers Company will curate each arrangement according to the season and market, with the shortest shelf time possible as they prepare to order.  Our flowers are still very happy and fresh after nearly 10 days.  As a part of The British Flower Collective, Wild Flowers Company are passionate about returning seasonal, local, homegrown flowers back into our homes – so help them out.  Head over to Wild Flowers Company and send some seasonal happiness to someone you love.

Has your week been as beautiful?  Share with us!

Disclosure: We received flowers from Wild Flowers Company in exchange for promotion of their business, and we’re delighted to endorse them.

The flowers I sent my mum from them today were paid by me though.. happy birthday, Mum! 🙂

  1. Those are gorgeous flowers! I'm not a big flower person in general, but my daughter thinks I am, and those crunched up bunches of flowers she always finds for me {unfortunately, sometimes, from someone else's garden!} have always made my heart melt. I'm going to look into whether we have a company like that in the States, I think my MIL would love something like this 🙂

  4. Those are so artfully beautiful! And they're refreshing, since they echo of the freedom and variety of outdoors and simple beauty of nature, vs a 'manufactured' sort of pretty. I absolutely love flowers… as soon as I was off of my college student budget, they became a regular indulgence. I'd love to be able to capture a bit of nature's beauty with these flowers, will have to look into them. Thanks!

  5. Those flowers are absolutely gorgeous! I really love the purple color of them. What makes them stand out to me is that there is just one, not a bouquet. I love the presence of it and how it really seems to pop! Especially with the less colored background. Wild flowers are just so pretty, what a lovely post, it made my day happier.
