FOOD PLANS ON FRIDAY

FOOD PLANS ON FRIDAY

Thanks to my new, new, please-let-it-last-forever decluttering and cleaning routine, I find myself actually having time to plan things at the moment instead of flying by the seat of my pants which, to be fair, has been my style most of my life. So welcome to Food Plan Friday!

WHY FOOD PLAN FRIDAY?

Meal planning is an area that I dream of excelling in – or even managing in quite honestly – for a few reasons.

  1. I’m tired of spending FAR too much money at the supermarket when I know I could have spent far less if I’d had an idea of what I was actually there to buy – this week cost me £185 for a family of 5;
  2. Lyoto might just break free from his staple diet of chicken, pistachios, crackers and cheese and grapes [and Ben and Jerry’s Chocolate Fudge Brownie Ice Cream];
  3. I wouldn’t have to hang out of the doorway yelling at the boys each night to see what they wanted to eat;
  4. I’d have new meals to take pretty pictures of. Selfish, I know. Haha. But I love a pretty tablescape and it’s even better when there’s gorgeous food on there too.

GETTING STARTED WITH FOOD PLANNING

So, with that in mind here’s our first week of meals. I plan on Friday nights for the week ahead and so I’m calling it my Food Plan Friday. These are my all new food plans on Friday. Haha. Gav is actually a very good cook and I’ve been to River Cottage a few times, so really we should be pretty good at tackling a new recipe each week. Let’s hope, huh?

The new meal we tried was Pineapple Grilled Pork Chops and I’ll have the recipe up for that next week, they were so good, and so easy too!

I’m also going to try and do my shopping online so that I can have a shopping list on here with costs like last year as that was handy!

    I love the sound of the Pineapple Grilled Pork Chops. I will be looking out for that recipe.
    If you have time to join in with a linky Katy Kicker runs a meal planning one which starts each Friday and runs for a week. I get loads of ideas from it x

    1. They were so good! Now I need to make them again and photograph them this time, haha! I really need to get onboard with the linky – otherwise my meal planning starts to drift and we end up with whatever is in the cupboard!
