So this year we headed back to the hidden Christmas tree farm in Wellow. I’ve actually lost count of the number of annual Christmas tree chops we’ve had but I really should count them. This tree is the second time we’ve had from this gorgeous little farm because I had no idea that it existed…
It’s just a field. A field that grows magic. The tree farm. We don’t know what it’s called, and we don’t know how we found it. They don’t advertise…and they always ask us not to tell others. And with gloopy mud puddles, jewelled cobwebs and mystical weeds, we find Christmas here, every year.
This Christmas was hard. Excalibur had crossed the Rainbow Bridge the day before Christmas Eve leaving us all heartbroken and our plans in ruin. Last year we began our Christmas tree chopping tradition after the mister was tipped off about a tree farm by a work colleague. It’s one of my most cherished holiday rituals now and much more exciting to us than just buying a tree from the local nursery. Now, as a family, we are amazing terrible at missing deadlines….

Christmas is full of traditions in our home. From those traditions that Gav and I have carried from our own childhoods to that of our boys’, to traditions that we’ve begun together whilst dating, and on to new traditions that we begin as time passes and we discover pastimes and little rituals that fit well…
