167. In case you’re wondering, the count [unless there are some I’ve missed] of Funko Pop Vinyls in our house is 167. Years ago my niece started collecting them and I had no idea about them or how addictive and collectible they really are. If you saw Hero’s birthday celebrations this year, he had the full Toy Story 4 set and they spread right across the enormous cake at the party. We have Marvel, Harry Potter, Disney, all manner of Pop Vinyl peeps and so when this huge Funko box arrived at out house, I was squealing – because, well, cuteness was inside.
According to Funko legend, once upon a time in the heart of the Pacific Northwest, is a wooded glade called Wetmore Forest. This forest, full of the mossiest bearded trees, is home to the Wetmore Monsters; a furry band of critters of all shapes and sizes, all unique and thriving together in their misty rainforest, shrouded in an enchanted mist.
There are size monsters released in the UK through John Lewis – each Funko Wetmore Forest having their own plush, vinyl and storybook.
WETMORE FOREST MONSTER POP VINYL COLLECTION
There are six Wetmore Forest Monsters in the collection:
- Bugsy Wingnut
- Chester McFreckle
Each with a different personality, from what I can see I’ve described the monsters in the brackets below and added the blurb about them from their creators. They are all ADORABLE.
Picklez [Green Large Eared Mouse Monster]
Picklez has energy to burn and a gift for lightening up a serious mood. This green, long-eared rascal loves nothing more than a little good-hearted mischief. Extremely speedy and smart as a whip.
Butterhorn [Peach and Yellow Curly Horned Ram Monster]
Butterhorn is a gentle monster who always sees the best in everyone. Easily excitable, she loves an adventure. When she doesn’t have her nose in a book, you can usually find her hanging out with her best friend Snuggletooth.
Chester McFreckle [Orange and Yellow Deer/Fox/Squirrel Monster]
Chester loves to solve a problem. He has a seemingly bottomless curiosity and a habit of taking things apart and then putting them back together again!
Snuggle-Tooth [Blue and Purple Striped-Ear Rabbit Monster]
Snuggletooth is a natural leader. Brave and determined and fiercely protective of all those who are close to her. She is a true friend – honest, trustworthy and dependable. This is Snuggle-Tooth below.
Tumblebee [Black and Yellow Yeti Monster]
Tumblebee sees the world through the innocent eyes of a child – marvelling at simple beauty. He is strong and loyal and generous with hugs.
Bugsy [Purple Little Bat Monster]
Being the smallest member of the group, some of the other monsters feel a certain protectiveness toward Bugsy. A keen-eyed explorer and joyful observer, Bugsy is always eager to help out in whatever way he can.
ONCE UPON A TIME IN WETMORE FOREST – THE BOOKS
There are six titles available at John Lewis for bedtime reading – we have Tumblebee goes for a walk, which is a short and sweet story about helping out a new friend in need. I love that they have stories to go along with the Funkos – and Hero loved hearing about his new friends, but they’re not very in depth and so suitable for children around Hero’s age as a sweet, light bedtime story. I would absolutely buy them to go along with a Wetmore Forest funko for a friend’s birthday present to give context to the toy, too.
FUNKO WETMORE FOREST PLUSHIES
We have BUGSY WINGNUT! much coveted by our friends, Bugsy is the smallest of the Wetmore Forest Monsters but with a huge heart. He loves helping out, exploring and having fun, and he’s SO soft. Silky soft with adorable ears [which his last name probably comes from] and little fangs. He has the cutest little pair of wings too and honestly, he’s just adorable.
The collection is available at John Lewis currently and there are even more to pre-order for next year on Amazon – we’re so excited!
