After my blog post about the beautiful gift I received from Morgan, I also want to share with you some more acts of kindness that I have been so lucky to receive!
Before I start, I want to highlight the fact that I’ve never met my friends that I mention during this post in person because I find that in my everyday life, when I speak of them as, “my friend George” or whomever, and the person I’m speaking to asks who I’m referring to and I respond that they live in America or wherever, I generally get the feeling that they somehow see these people as lesser friends, simply because our friendship has been started on the internet.
My best friend is American. The last time I saw her was in August 2008, the next time I’ll see her is October 2013. Does that make her a lesser friend, because I can’t see her every day? Not at all. I know she’s there for me whenever I need her, and I’m sure she feels the same. Otherwise we wouldn’t be friends, virtual or otherwise. I think people seem to confuse “make believe” with “virtual”.
So today I’m sharing with you the kindness of two of my “virtual” friends, Daniella and Crystal. Both of them are Disney Brides and Disney Mommas like myself and I can’t thank them enough for their kindness.
Daniella, thank you so much for my beautiful sandwriting for Lyoto. I was so surprised to find it waiting for me when I finally returned to my computer after my discharge from the various departments of the hospital. It made me so happy to even think that you were thinking of me when you have such a busy life yourself. And I treasure Lyoto’s drawing. It’s not just a photograph, it’s a reminder to me of how special our friendship is.
Secondly, Crystal. Crystal is an amazing, wonderful person who has gone out of her way to help me SO many times to bring things over from the USA to me that I couldn’t get over here. From Lucky Charms, marshmallows, candy cane kisses and the like to a cradle for Lyoto and lately all of the party supplies I needed for Jensen’s party from Oriental Trading, Crystal has gone out of her way to help me. Crystal, I am so grateful for everything that you’ve done for me, even though we still have never met! You’re a one in a million friend; I hope I can somehow return all of the favours you have done for me someday.
Virtual friends, real friendship.
