After Gav’s loft expedition, I quickly realised that I was not in need of any new clothes for Seahorse. My 5 year old nephew, Loki, has recently made the discovery that babies are born naked and has been imploring his mother (my sister) to buy clothes for Seahorse so he isn’t cold, or worse still, having people look at his pebbles whilst he’s nude. So luckily for Seahorse he will be receiving very lovely gifts from my sister and her family and from my parents as I know they were on a shopping expedition to get some for him this past week. I personally have picked up a few items ~ all boys ones, despite the fact that 5 pieces were bought before it was confirmed that I was definitely having a boy (I knew, I knew!) but there has been no expedition for me as there was when I was pregnant with Jensen.
However, there are a few items that I wanted this time that I learned about when Jensen was born and wished I had bought.
Number 1: The Wool Company Baby White Natural Sheepskin
Normally the thought of a sheep’s skin in my house wouldn’t be something I would even consider, but this is something I read about whilst I was trying to figure out how to get Jensen to sleep happier ~ or sleep at all most days. Apparently Australian mothers use these a lot ~ the baby gets used to the snuggly surface and sleeping happily on it, and then you can transfer it anywhere! No cold surfaces for my Seahorse! It’s a gift from my Mother and Father in law and I am so excited to use it 🙂 In fact it arrived this morning at their house!
I am so, so excited to have this thanks to my friend, Crystal. I wanted to get one with Jensen but didn’t really find out about them until he was around 5 months old by which point I thought it was pointless and Gavin would probably have broken down and cried if I had bought anything else baby. So this time, I am prepared! I have one, all ready for assembly by Gav (he claims he hates that kind of thing but secretly I know he’s coming around) and so, so cute. Thank you a million times again, Crystal!
Number 3: Another Sling.
Victoria the Slinglady on Facebook ran a competition this past week and my sister kindly entered it ~ and won! It’s a more manly sling than my blue, pink and orange (wedding colours) Babyhawk sling that I wore with Jensen and so Gavin is delighted with this one. He will be sporting his Pac Man sling with great pride! Thank you, Beka!
We thought about buying this when Jensen was born but as it was so pricey (£300) we decided against it as our outlay for him was obviously quite substantial. This time however, we have no room left in our bed and so it was a must, and we managed to get one off eBay that had only been used 4 times. Seahorse will be right next to me and out of reach of his bigger brother who likes to have cuddles in the night 🙂
I think that’s all for the new things at the moment… I’m working on a Top Ten Best Buys kind of post for the things that worked for me with Jensen last time ~ and those that didn’t and were a waste of Gavin’s our money.
