Please, spell his name right. Today’s post is a little rant. Before Jensen was born, we put a great amount of thought into his name, as we have with our Little Seahorse. We picked our name, we chose our spelling and on every single Christmas, Birthday and Anniversary card, Facebook and Twitter comment, when we mention him, we spell it the same way; J – E – N – S – E – N. With two letter Es, not an O and an E. He even wears his name on shirts and pyjamas. He was named after JensEn Ackles, actor, not JensOn Button, Formula One Racing Driver.

No… JensOn |
It’s very probably my hormones with being so close to giving birth, but lately it really is annoying me when people spell it wrong. People spell mine incorrectly all of the time, and that’s fine. I can deal with that. On one of our wedding cards, someone in our family even got my husband’s name completely wrong. We’re fine with that. But not my son. Especially if I’ve just posted his name in a comment somewhere and someone replies underneath with his name spelled with an O. It’s an E. I make sure I spell everyone else’s names correctly, I take care to observe any peculiar spellings or created names so as not to offend. Maybe it’s the lawyer in me that pays attention to details, or maybe it’s the teacher in me that has to learn at least 60 new names a year. Either way, I do it. Please pay my son and me the same courtesy ~ unless you want us to be writing birthday cards to Christuphur or Petar.
Now I feel better, I’m off to have some hot chocolate…
