THE CHRISTMAS TREE FARM 2016

Sharing is caring!

Naturally this year we were hit with the worst viruses and spent most of it ill on rotation – and so our time at the Christmas tree farm was super limited on account of not only our car’s heating fan breaking down and us having to borrow Nanny and Grandad’s cars [with Grandad too] but also because we felt SO exhausted and poorly.

Anyhow, this year we visited a different Christmas tree farm from the usual one – I’d seen it on Facebook and wanted so much to visit this place – a straw covered tractor ride to the trees, a rustic log cabin base with mulled wine, hot apple cider and freshly cut mistletoe on offer [I bought some] – it sounded perfect.

As it was the first week into December already, many of the trees had already been felled – but it was still beautiful and I’d absolutely choose my tree from here again next year, when we will promptly be there on December 1st or shortly before.  We’re going to make a family tag to take with us next year though instead of using my scarf to “save” the tree until the woodcutter makes his rounds.

This year we have the biggest tree to date.  He’s a 7 footer and we nearly didn’t fit him in the car he was so big.  Mr. Jones was not impressed. Haha.  When it comes to Christmas trees, I’m the Franck to his George Banks [Father of the Bride].

After ooching and ouching our way through the trees and their spiky little needles, we picked our tree, had it chopped and then the boys decided that they could get their tree back to the tractor themselves.  Poor Jensen ended up doing most of the work whilst Lyoto danced about, and Hero was fit to burst with excitement.  They also looked so cute in their matching coats which were sent to us so kindly by the Boots Mini Club.  Jensen loves his coat so much that he chooses it over his big, furry hooded parka. I’ve no idea why – not that they aren’t gorgeous and very well made – he loves it so much, but he absolutely adores it.

They’re growing up so fast – and every Christmas I notice it the most.  I continually ask them not to, but they don’t listen.  I look at Hero and see a 9 month old, yet he’s 2 and a half already.  Waah!

Now we just have to decorate Bruce [the name we give to every spruce tree when bring home]….and pray that he fits in our living room!
