PACKING OUR WELLIES FOR BLUESTONE NATIONAL PARK

Sharing is caring!

There’s no better way to shake of the Christmas cobwebs than getting out and having some fun in the fresh air.  We’re delighted that Bluestone Wales have invited us to stay with them for the week, review their resort and take some pretty pictures!

Anyone that knows me knows how much I love Wales,
having spent four of my most favourite years of my life there, reading law and playing rugby in the valleys.  So, this week feels like returning to the mother ship.

My parents are coming with us to help, and so there will be four adults, two children and a baby staying in the very beautifully advertised Grassholm Lodge which sleeps 8.

We leave on Monday morning and so we’re in the process of determining what to pack into the very limited boot space that we have.

What to pack?

Obviously, wellies.  It’s bucketing down here in Hampshire and so I can’t imagine what it’s like in Wales!  Thankfully, before I started brainstorming, I discovered that there’s a handy list on the site.  Recommended items include towels for the pool [although you can buy these there for £4], a torch for night-time nature rambles and bug hunts, your driving licence [for hiring golf buggies] and toilet roll.  One toilet roll is provided which made me laugh for some reason.

Additional Activities and Dining

In addition to packing, in preparation for our stay we are also able to prebook dining and chargeable leisure activities.  Sadly their online booking system for these is experiencing problems at the moment, although there is nothing on the site to alert holiday goers of this.  I assumed that most things were booked up and had I not had a contact to email, who informed me of the problems, I would have felt very disappointed indeed to see what was available for my stay.  Thankfully that’s not the case and we are excited to be adding some extras to our break.

So, with three days to go, I’d better get packing.

Have you visited Bluestone Wales?  How was it for you?  If not, have you been anywhere similar and you have a packing tip for us?

  1. Have a great time, Wales is beautiful. I think my tip would be that you can never really pack too many clothes especially when the weather is likely to be changeable so take at least one more outfit than you expect to need (if you can fit it in!). Have fun, look forward to seeing your photos xx

  9. Packing is never fun for me. Every few months my husband and I take a few days away from life and find a place to go in-state. Sometimes we drive out of state, but no more than 5 hours -which was Niagara Falls in Canada. We only go for a few days and I never know what to pack because I don't know where we will go once we get there and what if there is a sudden change in the weather? And shoes. What if me feet start to hurt?

  10. It sounds like you are going to have a great time with your family. Wales looks very beautiful. I love the color as well. Its one of my favorite. Enjoy your trip.
